One Torah for All

One Torah shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

A Terrifying Thing

Ivrim (Hebrews) 10:28
A man that has set aside Torah Moshe dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses:

There are many today who believe and teach that those who follow Mashiach Yeshua do not have to keep or obey the Torah.  In one breath they will agree with what Scripture states that Yeshua “fulfilled” the Torah; then in the next breath they will teach that this fulfillment by Yeshua effectively means that we no longer have to keep, do, and obey it ourselves, effectively meaning that Yeshua did away with the Torah.  This is double-mindedness.

This is like saying that because one man kept the speed limit law ahead of me, and so fulfilled the speed limit law, I do not have to obey it myself.  Now how silly is that?  It does not matter how many obey the speed limit law it is still there and if one violates it, then the authorities will catch up with the one who chooses to violate it sooner or later.

So too will the authorities catch up with the one who violates His Torah.  The only difference is, that YHWH’s record keeping is flawless and He knows each and every time His Torah is broken and by whom!

D’varim (Deuteronomy) 17:6
“At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is to die be put to death; at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.”

Now, take careful note of the following verse for this verse is found in the Brit Chadasha (New Testament) and it affirms the truth that if one violates the Torah he is worthy of the death sentence (note:  not every violation carried the death sentence, but here he is referring to those violations which do carry the death sentence).  We dare not miss the truth in this passage that the Torah Moshe is being affirmed as true and valid, still.  The writer then takes that truth and makes an application concerning Mashiach Yeshua.

Ivrim (Hebrews) 10:29
of how much more severe punishment, do you think shall he be judged worthy, who has trodden underfoot the Son of Elohim, and has counted the Blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of mercy?

In these latter days as the Spirit of Mashiach has gone out into the world to awaken Ephrayim out of his slumber to bring him back to his Father’s house (Torah), the anti-missionaries have gone into overtime.  An anti-missionary is one who attempts to convert a believer in Yeshua as Mashiach away from Mashiach Yeshua to Judaism.

The Scripture teaches us that this is counting as unclean the Blood of the New Covenant, which is Mashiach’s own Blood.  Is it any wonder Yeshua said the following?

Matithyah (Matthew) 23:15
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!  For you travel sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes so, you make him twofold more a son of Sheol than yourselves.”

These are some of the strongest words that Yeshua spoke.  But why is a proselyte of the Pharisees more a son of Sheol than they themselves?  In the case which we are discussing concerning the forsaking of the Blood of Mashiach Yeshua, such a one as this has known salvation and cast it aside. Therefore, a person who has known the truth and path of salvation through Mashiach Yeshua and then steps away from it for any reason could be seen as a twofold son of Sheol.

Ivrim (Hebrews) 6:4-6
4 For in the case of those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5 and tasted the good word of Elohim, and the powers of the age to come,
6 and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of Elohim afresh, and put Him to an open shame.

Now mind you, I am not the judge of such terrifying matters as this.  That is the sole jurisdiction of Mashiach Himself.  He is the righteous Judge and He will determine all such matters.  But in this case, the writer seems to be referring to the blasphemy of the Spirit as Mashiach taught us that this was the only sin for which there would be no forgiveness.

Ivrim (Hebrews) 10:30
For we know him that said,
“Vengeance belongs to Me, I will recompense.”
 And again,
“YHWH shall judge His people.”

The first quote is from D’varim 32:35 and the second quote is the next verse D’varim 32:36.  These verses are found in the song that Moshe was commanded to teach to Israel.  This song is about our generation in these latter days.  Thus, these verses apply directly to us.

Kepha Aleph (1st Peter) 4:17
For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of Elohim; and if it begins first with us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the good news of Elohim?

Do you realize that as a follower of Mashiach Yeshua you are in the process of being judged right now?  As we live our lives in Mashiach Yeshua, we are judged every day and every moment of every day.  The forgiveness and cleansing of His Blood should be constant and continual in each one of our lives as we strive to hear and obey His Voice and as the image of Mashiach is perfected in us.  Item by item the Spirit of YHWH sifts through the lives of those who have put their hope in Mashiach Yeshua and removes those things as He judges each item that is lacking in a person’s life.

Ivrim (Hebrews) 10:31
It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living Elohim.

Why is it a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of YHWH?  What does this mean?

So many followers of Mashiach Yeshua today have this idea that our Creator is nothing but love and is associated with the warm fuzzy feeling they get when they go to church.  While it is true that YHWH is love, it would be more accurate to say that He is holy love or pure love.  But even that is an incomplete picture for YHWH is so much more than love.  He is also righteous.  He is many things, all of which are pure and without sin or defect, something that man can scarcely comprehend.

Yeshayah (Isaiah) 33:14
The sinners in Tzion are afraid; trembling has seized the profane ones; who among us can dwell with the devouring fire?  Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?

It is not a small matter to stand in the presence of YHWH our Elohim, particularly considering the reality that we have all sinned!

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of Elohim.

The truth that we are all sinners along with the truth of Who and What YHWH is should be terrifying.

Ivrim (Hebrews) 12:29
For our Elohim is a consuming fire.

Elohim will consume all that there is.  Some now, some later; but all shall be consumed by Him.

Ivrim (Hebrews) 10:27
But a certain terrifying expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which shall devour the adversaries.

Everything and everyone who stands in opposition to YHWH shall be consumed by Him.  What each and every person has to come to terms with is that we have all been in opposition to Him at some point in our lives.  It is up to us as individuals to switch sides and to align ourselves with Him. In so doing, whatever is in a person which opposes YHWH, He shall consume out of his life in this present life.

Tehillim (Psalm) 50:3
Our Elohim comes, and does not keep silent;
A fire devours before Him,
And it is very tempestuous round about Him.

The typical human condition, sin, is not one which allows a man to stand in the presence of YHWH and live.  In order for one to have eternal life certain things must take place in his life.

Matithyah (Matthew) 3:11
“I indeed baptize you in water to repentance; but He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; He shall immerse you in the Holy Spirit and in fire.”

Please note that all shall be immersed in fire.  This is not a choice given to any man.  The choice given to man is when this shall occur.  If a man chooses to be immersed in fire now, then YHWH will do so and burn out of him all those things impure and not pleasing to YHWH.  He will remove all those things from his life that hinder him from being in His presence.  He will immerse him in the refiner’s fire so that the image of Mashiach may be perfected in Him.

However, if a man chooses not to be immersed in the refining fire of YHWH now, then such a one as that shall be immersed in the fire of judgment at the end of the age.  No one shall escape the fire!

Kepha Bet (2nd Peter) 3:10
But the day of YHWH will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Make no mistake about it; this is as sure to happen as this day is today.

Kepha Bet (2nd Peter) 3:11-12
11 Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy living and fear of Elohim,
12 looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of Elohim, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

This is a very good question Kepha asks us; wouldn’t you agree?  What manner of people are we to be considering the fact that YHWH is an all consuming fire?  Should we not fear Elohim and live holy, set-apart lives to Him in Mashiach Yeshua?  And how can one do this if he tosses aside those commandments and ordinances which teach us how to do this?  He cannot!

ABBA YHWH, teach us to walk in the fear of YHWH as well as the love of Mashiach; in the name of Mashiach Yeshua.

Amein and Amein.
